Neil McVicar (Scotland) I believe Neil was the first builder to take on the Tread Lightly challenge.  I know he was the first to post pictures.  I don't have any of those pics on hand to share, but you can find them in the jwbuilder discussion forum:  http://groups.yahoo.com/group/jwbuilders/
Robert Bayliss (Australia) Check out this beauty!  Robert looks like he's closing in on the finish line.

Take a moment to read the description provided by the New Zealand designer, John Welsford.  Tread Lightly suits my needs perfectly and while my wife seems to think it looks "cute" I insist that it looks "salty!"  Yup, that's it...the only problem...I can't buy it...I've got to build it!

So it looks like I'll be learning and starting yet another hobby, boat building.  I've already bought the plans, a metric tape measure (the plans are shown in millimeters instead of fractions of inches...this is a good thing), and the first 4 sheets of marine plywood.  I've installed a couple new shop lights in the garage, put up some pegboard and shelving to help organize the tools, and moved a small workbench from the basement into the garage.  The stage is set and now it's time to start making sawdust.  God help me.
Oh my god!  That's it!

That was the first thought that coursed through my mind when I saw and read the article about Tread Lightly in the 25th issue (Jan/Feb 2004) of Small Craft Advisor.

After sailing my sunfish for a few years, I had been looking high and low for a boat that would be just as fun and convenient, but would also provide a little more space for a passenger and a little more shelter from the elements.

The West Wight Potter 15 was often on my mind and I was working out the fiscal gymnastics needed to convince myself I should buy it when the TL article arrived in the mail.  I still believe that the Potter 15 would suit my needs wonderfully, but there was just something about the style and design of Tread Lightly that I couldn't ignore.
